Abstract Within the Romanian agriculture subsistence / semi-subsistence agricultural exploitations continue to occupy an important part, the characteristics of their organization and functioning imparting a particular kind of dynamics. The study here aims at highlighting the perspectives on the evolution of subsistence / semi-subsistence agriculture in relation to rural economy and the sustainable rural development. Our main purpose is to bring into analysis the core issues which the Romanian small farms have to face and, at the same time, identify / propose solutions which would contribute to the economic recovery of the agricultural exploitations in question.

All over early modern Fennoscandia—in the areas of modern-day Norway, Sweden, and Finland—there were peasants who occupied wealthy farmsteads, held positions of trust, and had kinship networks with members of higher status groups such as local priests and state officials, burghers, and other gentry. Las obras de la A-66 (Autovía de Extremadura) descubrieron un gran número de yacimientos arqueológicos que fueron excavados y documentados en su totalidad. La Villa Romana de Clavellinas es uno de estos ejemplos. Excavada entre junio del 2001 y enero de 2002, aportó gran número de estructuras y de restos materiales, suficientes para considerarla como un centro productivo rural romano. A su vez, también se documentaron un gran número de monedas con una cronología del siglo I d.C. al IV d.C.
